Carnival Freedom Returns to Sea After Extensive Dry Dock

When you step aboard Carnival Freedom in the future, you will experience a transformed ship. As Carnival Cruise Line announced, the Conquest-class ship has completed a 35-day dry dock stay in the port of Marseille and is now returning to service.
Lower Funnel and Modernized Interior
One of the most striking visual changes involves the iconic whale-tail funnel. Its height was reduced so the ship can call at a wider variety of ports in the future. The bow also proudly displays the cruise line's new hull livery.
Inside, passengers will also find several new features:
- The casino was redesigned and expanded with over 100 additional slot machines.
- The video arcade and shopping areas received a fresh new look.
- Accessibility was enhanced throughout the entire ship.
From Europe Back to the US
The initial voyages will first take the ship through the Mediterranean. On October 9, Carnival Freedom reaches the port of Barcelona for an eight-day cruise before embarking on a 13-day transatlantic crossing. Starting October 30, the ship will be homeported in the port of Port Canaveral. Florida will remain its home base until May 2027, before it repositions to the port of Norfolk in Virginia.
New Booking Options Through 2029
For your long-term vacation planning, the cruise line has released new sailing dates. Six- to eight-day cruises from Norfolk are now open for booking through April 2029. The itineraries lead to Canada, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Bahamas. Scheduled stops include destinations such as the port of Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, the port of Grand Turk, as well as the private destinations port of Celebration Key and port of Half Moon Cay.
