US General Named Godmother of Legend of the Seas

For cruise passengers planning a trip to the Caribbean, there is exciting news from Royal Caribbean: the cruise line has selected a prominent godmother for Legend of the Seas. As the company announced in a press release, retired US Air Force General Lori J. Robinson will take on this traditional role. Robinson was the first female combatant commander in the US Armed Forces, leading NORAD and NORTHCOM, among other major commands.

Christening on Veterans Day in Fort Lauderdale

Following her inaugural summer season in Europe, Legend of the Seas is expected to arrive at her new homeport of Fort Lauderdale in the USA in November 2026. From this key Florida departure port, widely known as the gateway to the Bahamas and the Caribbean, the ship will embark on her next season.

According to Royal Caribbean, the official christening ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 11, 2026—the US holiday "Veterans Day". With this date, the cruise line wishes to honor not only the godmother but also the service of veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. Lori J. Robinson expressed her excitement about her new role:

"I am deeply honored to be named godmother of Legend of the Seas and to participate with my family in such a special tradition for Royal Caribbean."

New Itineraries to the Caribbean

Following the celebrations in Fort Lauderdale, the ship will sail on various itineraries throughout the Caribbean. The schedule includes six-night cruises to the Western Caribbean as well as eight-night voyages to the Southern Caribbean.

Featured destinations include the port of Oranjestad in Aruba, famous for its colorful Dutch colonial buildings and Eagle Beach, as well as the port of Willemstad in Curaçao, whose historic old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In addition, the ship will visit the cruise line's private destination, "Perfect Day at CocoCay" in the Bahamas, on every single one of these sailings.

Onboard Legend of the Seas, which the cruise line highlights as being designed for families and adventurers alike, guests can look forward to 28 different dining options, seven pools, and a variety of entertainment shows.
