AIDAperla and AIDAprima to Receive Extensive Makeovers

Great changes are on the horizon for your future cruises on the Hyperion-class ships: the cruise line AIDA Cruises is expanding its largest-ever modernization program, "AIDA Evolution," to AIDAperla and AIDAprima. As the company has announced, both ships are scheduled for multi-week dry dock stays, during which the dining options, recreational areas, and cabin comfort will be comprehensively upgraded.

AIDAperla will lead the way from April 2 to May 2, 2027, at the French shipyard Chantier Naval de Marseille. Exactly one year later, from April 21 to May 21, 2028, the modernization of AIDAprima will follow.

New Restaurants and Bars on Board

According to the cruise line, the culinary offerings on both ships will be significantly expanded. In the future, the "Best Burger @ Sea" restaurant will be introduced. In addition, the new "East Fusion" area will be created on Deck 7, offering Asian dishes such as sushi, hotpot, and Korean barbecue. This concept is based on a variation being introduced on AIDAdiva in March 2025. The dining options will be complemented by a "Teppanyaki Asia Grill."

The bars are also getting a new concept. The current Photo World on Deck 7 will be transformed into the "Art Bar," a combination of an art gallery and a café-bar featuring an espresso machine. On Deck 8, the new "Panorama Lounge & Bar" will be created, while the "Spray Bar" in the bow will receive a visual facelift as well as an interactive LED video wall. In the future, access to the "Spray Bar" will be through the "D6" nightclub. Additionally, the Latin American-inspired "Chilli Out Bar" will be established on Deck 8.

More Comfort and New Recreational Areas

According to AIDA Cruises, improvements are also coming to the cabins and suites. Cabins will be equipped with USB ports by the beds and new mirrors with a nightlight function in the bathrooms. The suites will receive a new color scheme. In addition, the accommodation options will be expanded with additional inside, oceanview, and balcony cabins by converting unused spaces. The central "Theatrium" will get new lounge and seating furniture for a cozier atmosphere.

There are also new features for families and younger guests:

• Four Elements Activity Deck: The upper level will get a new net structure for climbing.
• Fun Park Air: This new area will replace the old climbing garden.
• Mini Golf: A new course will be built on Deck 16.
• Kids Club: For the first time, an outdoor area for childcare will be integrated.
• Beach Club: A mini play area for toddlers will be added, which was already trialed on AIDAluna at the end of 2025.
• Teens Lounge & Game Center: Teenagers will get their own hangout spot in the "D6" nightclub as well as a gaming area on Deck 15.

First Cruises After the Modernization

As soon as the ships leave the shipyard, they will start sailing directly in the Mediterranean. AIDAperla will set sail on May 2, 2027, from Mallorca on a ten-day itinerary that includes the Hafen Barcelona in Spain. For AIDAprima, a seven-day cruise from Mallorca will begin on May 21, 2028, which will call at the Hafen Marseille in France as well as the Hafen Barcelona.
